I am not the matriarch yet. I have an Aunt on my father’s side that is still living. I would say she is doing a good job in connecting with the many nieces and nephews but not all of them. That would be a full time job. We are hoping to have a family reunion soon. Funny but most of the family do not know each other. How sad is that. Yes I would say the matriarch has a big task. I hope I will be up for the challenge when it is my turn.
Another great, interesting article, Karen. You are definitely on a roll!! :-) As a matriarch, I am trying... In August our kids and Grands will all be together for a multi-day reunion. In another week, we are hosting our Orange Country niece and nephews and their kids for a pool party to include an engagement party and birthday celebration. Trying... LOL
Karen, I enjoyed this article. I have become the matriarch of my family as well, and I haven't lived up to the responsibilities that you described. Unfortunately, I live quite far from my nieces and nephews and even my daughters and their families. Thank you for writing on this subject.
Karen, I find you to be a matriarch to your family and also to your friends. I love the wisdom and laughs you bring to anywhere you go. Coffee shops, comedy nights, and church gatherings. Your grandson I believe is also endeared to your wisdom and love. ❤️ I know I appreciate you♥️
You're War Room could be anywhere, including where we practice our stand-up! And I'd say your reign is much farther-reaching than you realize, even beyond The Matriarch of Murrieta. I don't know how many times I've met someone who knew you, and the teachers, especially, often share some bit of wisdom you might not have even known you bestowed on them which had a MAJOR IMPACT. Part of why I'm gonna keep buggin' you about writing/publishing a "bigger" book (more widely read) e.g. SAY IT WITH HUMOR (which is the key to communicating and successful relationships in just 5 words).
I wouldn't call myself a matriarch. I have one biological son who doesn't have children. My step-daughters from my late husband have a living mother. My present husband's kids had grown and flown by the time I came on the scene. But, I have a secret sauce, regardless my title. A book I highly recommend to all women with children or step-children who have reached the ripe old age of 18+ is Praying the Scriptures for Your Adult Children. In this book, author Jodie Berndt provides the Biblical ammunition to have a present and eternal impact on your family without saying a word to any of them. I CAN NOT RECOMMEND THIS ENOUGH!

You are the matriarch of our little comedy group!
